“Double Black Diamond” by Grzegorz Bugaj at Galeria Podbrzezie

Curator Robert Domżalski introduced us to the life journey of Kraków-based artist Grzegorz Bugaj. The solo exhibition “Double Black Diamond”, held at Galeria Podbrzezie, tells the story of a challenging path full of obstacles, where Bugaj merges two great passions: art and extreme sports. The exhibition is closely connected to gravity biking, a sport Bugaj has practised for over 20 years. For him, this sport is not just daily motivation but also the driving force behind his creative work. As an inseparable part of his life, it naturally intertwines with his art. Bugaj recognises a deep connection between the experience of pushing physical limits in gravity biking and his own painting. Through the sport, he enters a state he calls “flow” - a seamless emotional and physical rhythm. Bugaj seeks to capture the difference between works created immediately after intense rides and those made when he’s distanced from his cycling passion.
